Study tips that actually work
Learn the periodization
Every APUSH question is anchored to a period. Memorize the 9 period dates first.
Practice DBQs weekly
The DBQ is worth 25%. Write one a week and time yourself — 60 minutes including reading.
Use themes, not just dates
Group facts under the 7 APUSH themes (American identity, work/exchange, geography, etc.) for faster recall.
Frequently asked questions
What's a good APUSH score?
A 4 or 5 earns college credit at most schools. About 11% of students score a 5 each year.
How do I memorize all the dates?
Don't. Focus on cause-and-effect chains within each period — the exam tests reasoning, not date recall.
